By the way, I just finished my daily scheduled reps, in which there were again a fair number of lapses. And again Mnemosyne is allowing the number of cards graded 1 in my hand to rise above 21. I mistyped something in my earlier post that might have made what I was saying a bit unclear- I meant to write that I had marked things lapsed rather than marked them marked. Anyway, I would hazard, based on this, that the restriction applies only to cards that have never been marked higher than 0, or that have never lapsed (it's not just cards that heve been added during the current session, as the behavior holds true even when I close Mnemosyne and reopen it.) I've been getting a bit curious about the scheduling algorithm anyway, so I might have a look at the code sometime soon and see if I can make sense of what I'm seeing. It has been a long time since I programmed in Python (the last professional work I did in it was when Python 1.8 was current, and a lot of new features have been added since then, I gather), but hopefully I will be able to follow it at least.
