I've seen what I think is the same behavior, and my sample size is large enough that it definitely isn't a matter of seeing patterns that aren't there. I don't know if it's the intended behavior or not, but it was actually pretty much what I wanted. I've been adding a lot of vocabulary to Mnemosyne lately (Japanese, written in kanji and kana.) I was keeping Mnemosyne open all the time, and adding words throughout the day. I had the "number of grade 0 cards" setting at 20. I would get up to 20 cards at grade 1, and then no new words would be introduced, no matter how many times I graded the cards that were being reviewed as 1. The way I do it is to flip through the cards rapidly until I've seen them 15-20 times, and then start grading them 2. At some point, when I'd retired half of the cards I was reviewing, or so, a new set of grade 0 cards would be introduced, until I again had 20 cards I was reviewing. This pattern held absolutely constant over many thousands of repetitions, and it didn't seem to matter whether the cards I had in my hand were graded 1 or 2. This worked well for me, since I'm adding over a hundred cards a day on some days. I like to grade 20 at 1 and then just flip through them quite a few times. Oddly, that behavior changed earlier today, and now I'm getting new grade 0 cards added to the set even though I am already reviewing 20 cards. Anyway, I'm not sure what the intended behavior is, but that's what I've observed. This was with v1.1.1. I _just_ upgraded to 1.2 but this change in behavior happened before that. I also think the way cards are being scheduled might have changed a bit, and I have a question about that, but I think I'll start a new thread about that.
