First of all, thank you everyone for your replies. I have tried to open the
site with Chrome and Internet Explorer with the same failed results. I have
also confirmed that my provider is not blocking open source software because
I can access the site that George provided and even lets me download the
software from there. But I don't want to download it again because I know it
will install itself in Japanese again, just like a few weeks ago when I
first tried.

Nevertheless, and back to my primary issue, the reason I wanted to open the
nmemosyne site in the first place was to access the info on how to change
the language. As George indicated "By default, Mnemosyne will use the
language to which your system is set. To change this, learn about advanced
preferences". So basically I just need to know how to change the language of
the program to English. Do I have to uninstall my current Japanese nmemosyne
and reinstall somehow differently or can I do it from the options of current
installed software?

So sorry for all this bother and so grateful for all your advice&solutions.
Esther
PS: George, where about in Japan do you live? Any chances of coming to do a
presentation on the software at the Nagoya Computer Club?
