It looks to me like the redirect did not get rewritten at all by mod_proxy, otherwise you would have http://reverseproxy/srv1/. If you get a redirect to http://reverseproxy/, it thus means that the real server sent a redirect containing that server name instead of its real name. You should take a look at the answers from the real server (sniff the trafic or do a telnet to port 80) and its config.
