There is an example of a working reverse proxy in the Apache URL Rewriting
Guide.  Have you looked at that?

When working with rewrite, I found the debugging very useful - turn the
level up high and watch carefully how the URL gets transformed.  It may not
be working the way you think it is.

In your original posting, you said that you see the problem with certain
kinds of hosts, not with others.  In this post, you say that you think there
is a problem with the reverseproxypass directive.  I think that you need to
do some more testing to figure out what your problem is.
