Guys, there seems to be a misunderstanding here.

For us to use NNTP, Vircom runs a PRIVATE NNTP server. They give you a link
like news://news.vircom.com and you click on it. (authentication is
optional - depending on the server used and the desires of Vircom).

If you use Outlook/Outlook Express, the server then pops up on your list of
folders on the left side, you choose the group you want to participate in
and you read/reply very similar to using email. It is very simple and the
information stays on the Vircom server.

It is instantaneous, updates occur faster than if sent by email. To see if
there are any new messages, click on the folder/server link on the left.

You do NOT have to run a server. Many groups are using USENET "style" of
servers for support these days. You do not need to have on a public USENET
news group which would be open to spam, etc. It could be private and
authenticated.
