Finally! Good idea, Greg. I owe you.

I started innocently enough by visiting this shop full of neat stuff where I had once bought records. Anyway, the guy had some posters and one for Kansas City Bomber caught my eye because Raquel Welch as a rollerderby girl just has a certain profound effect on me. Anyway, that was my entry and then a few months later, I finally got online and while looking up movies to buy, I came across posters that were priced, at times, similarly and at other times they were even cheaper. I think it was 'Wise Blood' that I was initially looking for and found the poster. Then I started buying more due to my big interest in movies and, as I learned, a bigger interest developed. Odd. So, I also remember, at one point, deciding that I was going to buy 100 film posters. Maybe I'd trade one off to get a new one or whatever but I had this idea about having exactly 100. Well, it's over 2000 pieces now and I still don't have a one sheet for Wise Blood but I am thrilled about the DVD being just newly released and I am ordering it very soon.

Take care,
Michael

OK, OK, perhaps I'm being biased and presumptuous again, but, yeah, maybe it's time to take a break from the American Idol talk. I think I'm starting to grow a uterus. I'm sure this has been discussed here before, but I'm really curious; what was it that drove you to become a collector of movie paper? Obviously, we all love films, but where did you find that first piece that set the hook? did you come across it by chance, or did you seek it out? Who sold it to you? This ain't exactly a mainstream hobby like stamp collecting, so what beaten path did you step off of to become a hopeless poster geek? There's a treasure trove of old-time collectors on this list, plus a fair amount of new blood (those guys under 70), and I'm sure there's some fascinating tales out there. I always enjoyed Bruce H's collector profiles...now I'd like to hear about some of my MOPO mates. I'll chime in later; after months of lurking, I've suddenly developed explosive MOPO diarrhea, so I'll give you guys a break and listen.
