you have it all wrong Brek
I LOVE THE GUESSING GAME THAT'S WHY I START ALL OF MY AUCTIONS START
AT JUST 99 CENTS
IT'S THE GUESSING GAME..... IN REVERSE!!
"Guess if this poster will or will not go for more than 99 cents!!"
starting bid $10 or $100 or $749????????
not in my auctions
the bidder only has to guess on whether or not he will have
competition or if he (or she) will actually be able to win the poster
for 99 cents

Why not buy a 1931 poster with a starting bid of $749?

There are all sorts of ways of selling. You can put it on eBay with
a hidden reserve, or I don't like the guessing game so I like to
just start the auction at my reserve. Of course this takes the
incentive of getting a fantastic bargain for the buyer, but I think
some serious collectors appreciate that more than a hidden reserve
if you want protection and sell on ebay.
By the way I have other nice posters listed.

Subject: [MOPO] AN OPEN LETTER TO CONSIGNEES
yesterday, someone asked about the value of his 1931 one-sheet
poster that he might consider selling. it was a rare poster, and
the only known sale was by emovieposter (bruce) over 15 years ago
for about 600.
this seller wants to sell it and get 3,000 net.
1. ebay is totally wrong for such a quality piece.
2. heritage, although they do allow consignors to set reserves with
their approval, only accepts consignments of posters totalling about 5,000.
3. bruce would clearly sell it, but he starts his auctions at a
dollar. this is risky for the seller. Surely, if the value of the
poster is just a couple of hundred, so be it!!!! bruce did his job
in getting the fair value. But, that wouldn't please the consignor.
i have about 6 top posters that i want to sell. one, for example,
is ALL ABOUT EVE insert. bruce sales of it are as follows: $1,650
in 2008, $733 in 2005 and $1,976 in 2002.
Is there a way for me to guarantee $1, 400 in my pocket or have it
returned to me? is there a way for that 1931 poster to achieve
3,000 net for that owner or get it returned to him?
thoughts?
michael
