i was right with you on this... whether it was signed, or a
certificate was issued and signed by the restorer, stating what work
and repairs were done, restore, paper repalcement or fills, etc. .
this document, like an appraisal, would go with the piece, were it
ever sold, like one includes when selling a work of fine art.
i do recall you had a number of silly replies in the negative. one
dealer even talked of the difficulty of SEWING on a tag to the
linen.. who ever talked about that kind of method?
i still think this is a sound and logical idea. makes total sense.

What are the pros and cons of restorers signing their work?
Would it add or subtract from the value of a piece?
It would be easier to do with paper items, a simple rubber stamp of
some kind. I suppose it could be done the same on linen.
Years go by and you wonder, who did the work on this piece.
