I'm sorry to see anything negative about GROUCHO Y YO (fantomas38000 eBay ID). I have dealt with them for over ten years, and always found them to be very honest, and professional. I acquired a large collection of Spanish posters about 12 years ago, and have turned repeatedly to Julian Iglesias (owner of Groucho y Yo), for information. He is extremely knowledgable about Spanish posters of all eras, and invariably sends me jpegs, illustrating the differences between an original release, and a re-release. The GROUCHO Y YO shop is located in Barcelona, but I believe Julian still lives in Madrid. My guess is that you have been talking to an employee, and that Julian is unaware of the situation. I would contact the shop and request a direct reply from Julian, or a direct contact email for him. The fact that you found their emails "condescending and rude", may be an unintended consequence of English being a second language for the employees of the store. From: Neil Jaworski <[email protected]> Subject: [MOPO] Groucho & Yo / fantomas38000 seller warning To: [email protected] Date: Wednesday, March 23, 2011, 11:20 PM hallo MOPOers as much as i hate to complain about a seller, especially one with generally excellent feedback, i've had a really lousy experience with a spanish dealer (groucho & yo / fantomas 38000 on ebay / allcollection). i bought a poster that was condition rated 4/5 and which was described as having some 'yellowing of the foldlines' only to receive it and find that this yellowing was due to thick black mould (three inches wide and over a foot long!) that bled from the back through to the front, giving that part of the poster a rather severe, mottled, yellow patina. i double-checked and the poster image on the auction website was clearly not the same as the poster i received; the copy i received had manual stamps in four corners that did not appear on the auction photo. the old bait & switch! i pointed out that the poster i received was not as described and was not even the same poster that i had bid on, but the seller insisted it was the same poster. i offered to return the item (at great expense, as global priority to Spain is £35), but rather than have me return it, the seller wanted to know if we could find a solution that would be acceptable to me. so i suggested that he might offer me 20% off the price of poster (about 20 euros) or a credit note of 30 euros towards another poster of similar value. NB the seller had been offering 20% off of all his fixed-price items throughout january and february. the seller point-blank refused to entertain this and said he would give me a 10% off future orders, which i think is laughable. the tone of his emails i found very condescending and rude and i have told him i will keep the poster but that he has lost my custom. i bought a quite expensive poster from this guy in september and two more since, but clearly he's thriving in this recession and can afford to lose customers. so beware of buying from groucho y yo / fantomas 38000 on the basis of their wildly inaccurate condition ratings and the fact that the photos of items that you bid on may not be the item you receive. cheers neil Visit the MoPo Mailing List Web Site at www.filmfan.com ___________________________________________________________________ How to UNSUBSCRIBE from the MoPo Mailing List Send a message addressed to: [email protected] In the BODY of your message type: SIGNOFF MOPO-L The author of this message is solely responsible for its content.
