>cool jeff and Rich !!! - I think the issue with Prowse was that he simply wore the vader costume and dist have speaking parts or was on screen other then in costume... so having one sig on a poster of one charchater unlees you really liked darth vader would not set of flares if the poster where sold..
howevere if I had a wiz of Oz and all the people signed it like Garland, bolger, Burke, haley and lahr and all the munchkins and the director and crew what would that be worth at auction??? well it would set records because of what Im trying to say.. its the group effort.... and the creators.. 1 sig alone does not corraborate the entire storie of the production.... I had a script I sold years ago it was the who dunit it episode of Dallas >signed by the whole cast.... they donated to a charity auction... I bought it and later sold it for maybe 250.00..... now they are making a new Dallas I wondered... what would it sell for today? who knows??? Harryhausen in my veiew is a steller artist in the scifi special effects world... I saw him at a tv show taoing in Toledo in like 1972... he was good friends with Linwood dunn whom I spoke to.. they all seem like great guys.. like kids with passion for what they did... I think Phil Tippet still carrys that passion on as are the digital creators we have now.. basically the posters are as a result of the artists work on the films themselves.. the actors directors and crew... however the poster artist would convey that magic into a trite poster form in order to sell tickets at the Boxoffice.. I love it... i want some popcorn now and a movie.. :) > >---- Original Message ---- >From: [email protected] >To: [email protected] >Subject: RE: [MOPO] Autographs on Movie Posters >Date: Sat, 23 Jun 2012 15:43:17 -0400 > > >---- Original Message ---- >From: [email protected] >To: [email protected] >Subject: Re: [MOPO] Autographs on Movie Posters >Date: Sat, 23 Jun 2012 12:43:27 -0700 > >>I only have a small number of autographed posters in my collection >> >>one is a 1sh from Inferno (1953) that I had Rhonda Fleming sign for >>me when I was one of the many sponsors for Cinevegas Film Festival >in 2004. >> >>all the rest are Harryhausen posters that I had Ray sign for me in >>1990 or 91 at a Dallas convention. >>I had him sign every Harryhausen item I owned, plus some more that I > >>bought there. >> >>In this case, I would say that it certainly doesn't devalue any of >>them as they are all signed in a fair space (meaning, not on >anyone's >>face, over an effect etc).
