Platt: No. Lying, cheating, stealing and killing are biological patterns. Social patterns dominate by punishing these bio-patterns. Pirsig says intellect dominates social patterns and that such dominance is better, i.e., more moral. The problem is that SOM intellect doesn't provide for morals at all. Ron: But MoQ does. That of superiority. But aren't individuals More moral than biological or social? If an individual using MoQ Morality uses the biological and the social to achieve intellectual Superiority, morality is served is it not? Are you saying that the social level is required? Why can't individuals, free of the social collective, perform morally?
