Krimel wrote (presumably alluding to my exchange with
SA):
"If all you are doing is creating a rationale for
arguing about what
is of value, why do you need to talk about science at
all?"
and DM adds:
"as Zizek suggests according to Tony Myers:
"the idea that we can criticise the truth value of a
proposition from
a neutral or objective position is the most
fundamental argument of ideology"
Science wants to get itself out of this problem I'd
suggest, and so does Maxwell".
Jorge: Re. Krimel's question: No need at all to talk
about Science at all when discussing values. The
subject just arose in this Science and the MOQ Thread.
If SA agrees we could move on to a new Thread.
Re. DM's addition: quite agree in that Science wants
to get itself out of this problem of Values. As I
quipped before: 'Science has nothing of value to offer
about values'.
Another thing, I didn't quite understand in your quote
the phrase: " the most fundamental argument of
ideology" ; it sounds as if there was just one
ideology
