[Bo] Arlo's about intellectuality spawning the "I" is far from valid stuff. Language has an "I" and language has been around for tens of thousands of years without giving rise to any metaphysics based on it...
[Arlo] If Bo took the time to read my posts, maybe he'd have seen that I already said (several times) that there was an "I" in language pre-intellect level, but that the modern notion of the "self" is the result of turning this "I-symbol" into a object of study in-itself. [Bo] Arlo's "intellctuality" is thinking - intelligence - and was denounced by Pirsig in the PT letter. [Arlo] I don't mind parting company with Pirsig at times, and am candid about it when I do, but this dismissal not only makes no sense, it is very odd coming from someone whose "intellectuality" is completely at odds with the MOQ, and from someone who denounces the direction Pirsig takes. [Bo] it was common to regard the old myths, religions, whatever as "their kind of rationality" and we see how Arlo's reflects this relativism and thereby reveals his position as a SOMist. [Arlo] That's just bunk, and one tires of the "if you don't agree with Bo, you are an SOMist". Nothing I've said "reflects" this, but its a funny, if not arrogantly idiotic, dismissal.
