I don't think he means that he literally can't say it. He does seem to be
correct that he can't say it without being written off as a racist.

[Arlo]
And if I said that only reason the republicans nominated McCain is that he's a
"white man", what would I be written off as? The point is, that its just
untrue, so I don't see what value there is in bemoaning how people would react
to it.

And, BOTH are in fact "racial" statements. Both say that the person has
achieved success only because of his skin color. Now, if Platt had said them
BOTH, I'd say he's a man jealous of success who can only conceive of a world
where others succeed, and he does not, based on trivial qualities.

So when someone says something like this, what should we think? He's a racist?
He's a moron? A buffoon? A sad little man threatened by those different from
himself?

But I will say this. We do live in a world where there are too many idiots who
would vote for or against a person for ridiculous reasons like skin color or
gender. And if you think a lot of Americans are voting for Obama because he is
black, I'd say there are equal numbers who will vote against him in the
national election for the same reasons.

Ask yourself why in our diverse world, where over half the population is
female, and a large percentage is a non-white minority of some hue, that we
have never had a minority or woman presidential candidate. And the only women
we accept as leaders at all on that level are those that display almost
ridiculous masculine qualities. This is where dialogue, enveloping BOTH
political parties, should be.
