[Krimel] Hey, Ron good to have you back. I am glad to hear that things went well for you. Now we can go sit in the park and swap hospital horror stories. But from one gimp to another, quitcher bitchin'. You type better with one hand than I do with two and everyone knows that one handed typing is an essential skill in the internet age. Ron: I guess surfin porn IS good for developing a skill, who knew! I spend 15min crafting a couple of sentences, gives me time To really look at what I'm sending. Perhaps this is a boon! Cuts down on my incoherent posts, that's for sure. [Krimel] I think SOM is embedded in our experience of the world and is certainly reflected in our language but as I have been saying a lot recently I don't think language is the bag of chips that most folks do. I think cross cultural studies are fascinating but I don't think they necessarily focus exclusively on linguistic differences and I think it would be especially hard to say whether cultural difference result from linguistic difference or if linguistic differences simply reflect cultural differences. Ron: I've become convinced that they are parts of a whole phenomena. They Require each other to exist. To clarify, I think SOM originates in how We build logic in statements. Which is what the laws of grammar Provide. Yes, there was language before grammar, but logic is Created using linguistic rules of grammar. I used to ask, why do we need grammar? I mean really, it seems quite Useless pragmatically. But when we see how it is used to establish Certainty in meaning, it sheds a new light on it.
