Ron: I've become convinced that they are parts of a whole phenomena. They Require each other to exist. To clarify, I think SOM originates in how We build logic in statements. Which is what the laws of grammar Provide. Yes, there was language before grammar, but logic is Created using linguistic rules of grammar. I used to ask, why do we need grammar? I mean really, it seems quite Useless pragmatically. But when we see how it is used to establish Certainty in meaning, it sheds a new light on it.
[Krimel] Linguistics is not my field but I believe there is a whole school of linguistics that would say the grammar precedes language. It is the underlying inherited structure of grammar that in fact produces language. Just as our perception of the world is shaped by the perceptual equipment we bring to the task, our language is in part determined by the grammatical structures we inherit. I am not sure what leads you to think that logic shapes perception rather than that perception shapes logic.
