Sex itself is not a vice; rather sexual desire or "lust" is a vice.

Depending on the social mores of a culture, Often, vice particularly designates a failure to comply with the sexual mores of the time and place ..

[Arlo]
I think George Carlin nailed it when he commented that lust and envy are not detriments to society, they are the very foundation upon which our market/economy are based. If we did away with lust, if we did away with envy (coveting, as the Occident refers to it), our entire economy (and hence society) would collapse.

Vice laws are just old, curmudgeony men's way of saying "if I ain't gettin' it, then neither are you." And since sexual preference is a "choice", anti-homosexual laws are confused men's way of saying, "if I had the choice, I think I'd suck some guy off, so I better make sure government is there to keep from turnin' gay." (e.g. Mr. "I've got a wide stance")
