[Chris] Today I am forced, by the power of coercion, to be a part of the capitalist system.
[Arlo] True. You can "drop out" and disavow material ownership, but you are still regulated by the police at the social level who enforce material ownership for others. For example, you can say "no one owns the lakes" all you want, but you can't swim in them if society allows others to own them. Conversely, in a Marxist society, you can shout "I own this lake" all you want, but no police will arrive to keep others from swimming in it. And if you take it upon yourself to prevent others from freely using "your" lake, then you would be locked up in the same way the Marxist would be locked up for daring to swim in someone's "private lake".
