Krimel, This does seem to be the flaw in an arguement against a term that stands for a general abstract meaning. Systems of government is more accurately defined by the Governments which employed it. So it's not so much socialism is evil it's that Governments using those terms to define their system of Gov. are evil. Making the statement socialism is evil an empty vaugue claim. Socialism is mainly a response to Industrialized Capitalism. But leaders only used it for tighter control and totalitarian rule. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. The new boss had better PR people. Propaganda. these guys not only owned your body but your mind. So I would say, socialism was really not put into practice yet. The kabutz perhaps the closest. The US perhaps as a social democracy.

[Krimel] It is interesting that you omit the Russians, Chinese and Cambodians this time. It is hard to see how the economic system itself can be blamed for any of them. On the other hand the blood on capitalism's hands is a direct consequence of the system itself. The tobacco industry has been a major economic force in the west for the past 400 years. It has been known that it kills people for the past sixty years. Last year it killed five million people world wide. It seems one of the problems with measuring Quality and Value in terms of Body Count is deciding what counts.
