What is the immediate present? Time is continuous. It is theoretically at least infinitely divisible. The immediate present as a phenomenological event must have some duration. We do not experience anything that does not impinge on our senses for some period of time. It takes some period of time for sense data to register. It takes some further duration for is to be processed into a perception. The immediate present, as a perceptual event, is a process. Without those processes and systems we can not have an experience. There are abstract divisions of time that can be conceived of as not having any systems involved but that kind of time lies outside of our capacity to experience.
