seasoned greetings Marsha m'dear,

Tricky things, these words we use. "conscious of" as opposed to "awareness"
- but not "awareness of" means that Quality is the object of consciousness
but not of awareness? I guess i could step back now and let you untangle
that for me, but it seems beside the point. Mine, anyway; which is the
fundamental basis of reality being a sort of "right way of stroking the
cat's fur" that I don't feel a lot of concordance upon.

for me, I often prefer oblivion. Sleep. Drugs. Alcohol or the small
death of knowing that comes when I do. Sometimes, for me anyway, awareness
is just a big drag. So much sorrow, so much sadness and so much wrong.
It's more fun being stupid, ignorant and blind, I swear. Maybe sometimes
its better to be aware, but not often.

Why is there so much joyous recognition in my soul over this gloomy
misanthropic sneer at all the who's down in whoville who like christmas a
lot? Why when Ebenezer goes "bah humbug" I go, "hell ya!" deep down inside?
If it's just a bad response on my part, then why the artistic creations
which objectify it for me and offer it on display? Somebody somewhere knows
what I'm talking about.

I haven't always been tuned to the phases of the moon, but I do know and
honor my solstices. I was hoping that some sort of week-long Native
ceremony would be my excuse to avoid Christmas this year but it looks like
they're holding it to just this weekend in order to avoid conflicting with
people's work schedules.

Oh well. We play the cards as they're dealt us, right?

Take Care,

John
