Science is the purveyor of a purposeless existence which, above all else,
explains
the sense of futility expressed by many, "Your work your ass off  and then
you die."
Yes, there's lots of other things to complain about, but it's the scientific
view that
has done the most damage to the human spirit. I think Pirsig hit the
bullseye when
he wrote:

"From the perspective of a subject-object science, the world is a
completely purposeless, valueless place. There is no point in anything.
Nothing is right and nothing is wrong. Everything just functions, like
machinery." (Lila, 22)
