"Struggling" seems an interesting word to choose.  "Fantasizing" is what I
do when I'm thinking about my choices.  And if you think about it, you'll
realize that pondering one's choices IS pondering one's interconnections -
because things to which I'm not connected, I have no clear choice in the
matter.  Except of course, my omnipresent intellectual freedom to think
about things.

I prefer emphasizing "good self" rather than "no-self" because of the
nihilistic overtones in "neti-neti" that we've discussed in the past.  So
you know my thinking on that one.
