Ron, Arlo,

Ron said
Since I am realtively new to the forum, I see a lot of talking past
one another where the concept has been taken to an extreme.

But surely you can see Ron that some (most) of us old hands also see
that very clearly. It's that dishonesty, picking an extreme to
mischaracterise another's view, that always brings constructive debate
crashing down; mired in pointless dipute. It's one of the reasons I
switch explicitly into "abuse mode" to highlight the fact when it
happens - no point beating around a bush like Platt. When he switches
into his evil dishonest rhetoric - I say so. (BTW although Platt calls
my behaviour "typical", that's another of his lies - I don't believe
I've ever taken that line with anyone else here or any any other
discussion forum for that matter.)

Though aparently, according to Arlo, who accuses me of politeness, I
don't say it abusively enough ;-)

I have suggested, because Platt understands his own deliberate
"winning" tactic, that he should be sanctioned by the moderator when
he adopts that mode of rhetoric. (Of course the screams of
authoritarian censorship will ring in our ears, but it is a perfectly
valid use of social authority.)

Formally warned of his unacceptable behaviour
Individual dishonest mails sanctioned
Banned for a period if the behaviour persists
Banned indefinitely if the pattern repeats.

Platt wouldn't be the first and he won't be the last.
The only downside is the load it puts on Horse.
Better if Platt just own's up and desists his pathetic game.

Free speech upheld.
His opinions are welcome, his lies are not.
