Yes, now-a-days we are bombarded by much more
information and have access to much more information,
our perception or ability to perceive has increased.
What to do with all of this information? The
processing of this information, that's what I'm
mentioning here. Where I work, which is a
micro-example of what I'm sure happenings on
nation-state scale and university scale, information
is abound, but what of action. Also, what of all this
information, I get so much of it at work that I barely
keep up with all of the information and sometimes I
pick and choose what information gets passed on, which
is not always helpful to the staff. So, we have a
static system in place that keeps on moving no matter
what information may not get passed on, but on a
personal level, dealing with residents some of this
information may or may not help them. Yet, so much
talk, so much information, and still basically what
the resident needs to do is try. I say to them you
can talk, talk, talk all you want, but if I see no
effort, then the resident really hasn't changed.
So, with this abundance of information has
anybody been able to process all of this information
for an change? Or, is it about getting information
more than anything else at this moment? Is this an
example of too much information, before any
organization can truly wrap its' understanding around
all of it. I've read recently a reminder that the
Roman Empire expanded so fast information couldn't
catch-up to it. So, what of these times. Does
information expanding too fast leave something lagging
behind?
When I sit and watch thoughts pass by, I'm
allowing for me to be alert to what's happening, not
just to thoughts, but what thoughts do in action.
Practicing being alert is a true practice, without
practicing being alert how else will we be alert, and
to what distractions may narrow our view, that's why I
practice being alert not to anything in particular,
just being alert, so, I can be alert to not any one
thing.
