DM,

I'm not sure beating is the answer. I'm not sure it isn't either. I believe
a variety of techniques from beating to molly coddling have been tried over
the years. Some swear by one; some by the other. I'm thinking the likely
loser is neglect.

Maybe the students should be beaten until they can understand humanism.

Mind you, I was a football hooligan once upon a time, change is possible,
and pretty much anyone can reach the top, if they start going in the right 
direction.
