gav: no, not at all. 

i am saying that the world may perish, and it may not,
and whatever happens is just and beyond my control.

 following my own nature, or not, IS within my
control. in fact it is the ONLY control i have.  

it is better, therefore, that i follow my own nature
(Tao) than not, even if the world goes kaput. even if
my following my own nature, however bizarrely tenuous
the possibility, is in some way causally related to
the world ending!

it is a logical metaphysical point, a loose analogue
of which might be seen in the story of abraham and his
boys.
