For the intermediate teachers I would recommend the "sisters" Café and
literature circles. Try the book Mini-Lessons for Literature Circles by Harvey
Danieles and Steineke.

Subject: [MOSAIC] Summer Professional Development

Hi all. I'm leading my school's language arts committee and we are making big
shifts in reading. Most likely we will move to Daily 5/CAFE in k-2 and then
Reading Workshop 3-6. Reading strategies will be taught throughout, beginning
in 1st grade.

What do you guys suggest in terms of professional development? We have some
faculty members who have attended D5/CAFE workshops, some who have attended
Teachers College RWP, and some who have little or no knowledge of either.
Regardless, we need something systematic, that will get us all on the same
page, in both philosophy and practice.

Suggestions?

Andrea
