Another check at Rapids Lake in the rain today turned up a couple different
species for that area. I came upon what I believe was the same
warbler/White-throated Sparrow wave I ran across yesterday. It was a couple
hundred yards north of where I found it yesterday and an hour later it was
couple hundred yards south of the area. I presume it is the same, since
yesterdays group had 3 Tennessee Warbler as did todays. The rain today made
it easier to see things keeping birds lower. Other birds in this wave were
many Yellow-rumped , at least 6 Palm, a Blue-winged Warbler, and a
Yellow-throated Vireo that was moving with them. 2 Ovenbird, an Orange-crowned
Warbler and Lincoln's Sparrow were off to themselves and a Common Yellowthoat
was back on territory. I searched the area where the Black-throated Green and
Nashville Warbler were yesterday without success. 12 Lesser Yellowlegs and a
Greater Yellowlegs flew in while I was there and 2 Solitary Sandpiper were
working the shore. 5 swallow species(no martins though I tried in vain to pick
one out) were working the lake and surrounding areas.
