We need your input, questions, and concerns!!!!!
The Minnehahah Creek Watershed District (MCWD) is holding an Open
House and Public Hearing on a proposed trail development project by
the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board for the Minnehaha Creek
corridor from Lake Harriet to Minnehaha Falls. A MCWD permit is
required to begin the construction. Significant changes to the trail
system are being proposed as part of the plan--trails now six feet
wide will be increased in width to 8 feet for pedestrians and 10 feet
for bikes/blades and re-routed in a number of locations. In a number
of locations, where combined trails currently exist, additional trails
will be placed to allow separation. In the event that combined trails
will be needed, they will be 12 feet in width.
A streambank stabilization plan that will be implemented as a part of
the trail development will be incorporated to restore and stabilize
erosion on a six mile stretch of Minnehaha Creek streambank in south
Minneapolis will be completed and funded by the MCWD.
