Annie, I didn't mean to criticize you or Pam, but there are
some folks in the Green Party that seem to have trouble with concepts
like proportionality and such. Like, this is a bike path, not the
Highway Departments grand plan for a 12 lane 35W... I never cease to
be amazed how dim bulb Greens can call a natural gas engine "clean
and efficent" and a diesel "dirty" even though it uses half the fuel
and emits half the greenhouse gasses of a natural gas engine. Then
there's the Green bus lovers that trash light rail... ignoring the
fact that steel wheel on rail has about half the rolling resistance
of rubber tire on pavement. And the defenders of hybrid busses... I'm
sorry, but I don't think these are quite the perpetual motion
machines they imagine. And if these hybrids work so well, how come
the railroads are not adapting their diesel-electric locomotives to
this technology (points thought to anyone who knows how the Milwaukee
Road electrics made use of regenerative braking).

        peace,
Dyna Sluyter from the mechanically inclined Northside
