Thank you Mr. Schneider, for providing long-awaited insight into the process of
endorsement utilized by the Stonewall DFL. Although I have been involved with
the DFL, I've never been involved with Stonewall, but I have considered it from
time to time. From what I gather in your comments, there aren't necessarily
criteria to deem an endorsed candidate "highly qualified" because members only
endorse candidates they consider highly qualified, the alternative is no
endorsement. A simple answer to what I thought was a simple question, finally.

Subject: Re: [Mpls] Stonewall DFL candidate screenings: qualifications &
      promises

Mr. Piehl and Ms. Eva,

First off as Mr. Piehl would like to try and make a claim at Megan
did NOT and could NOT vote at the Minneapolis Endorsment Screening
the only vote she did partake on was the ratifaction vote the
board had two weeks later on the motion made by a Minneapolis
board member.

Stonewall DFL send out a questionare to prospective candidates and
invites them to a screening. Members of the caucus are notified
about the screening to come and listen to the candidates answers
to qestions (which include questions as: will you list our
endorsement with others that you have recived, will you honor the
DFL endorsemnt, what have you done for the GLBT community, as will
as others on DP bennifets, repductive rights, school board
questionares also include questions on out for good and student
issues) and then the members in attendance also have a chance to
ask their own questions. If a certain candidate has made a vote
againt the GLBT community it will usally come up at this point or
brought up board member. Also if a candidate has a very good
voting record that will also be brought up. Once all candidates
for a pictular seat have been screened the membership will then
vote on a recomendation to the board. Voting for Minneapolis city
elections at the screening can only be done by Minneapolis members.

Also on Eva's comment about the "Jerry Janezich senate
endorsement". Stonewall DFL did not Endorse any one for Senate
last year untill after the State Convention. At the State
convention Dayton droped out of the Endorsement and ran anyway.
With six candidates running in the Primary, what is going to take
to win? Name recognition!
