Wow! Clark, you got people going a bit on this now!
I'm disappointed that some folks want to make this an US -vs- THEM discussion. Most, if not all Twins supporters have tempered their statements with admonitions that they are skeptical about subsidies for a ball park. This doesn't change their love for baseball. I love the Twins. I grew up listening to them on 'CCO. I attended Twins games in three World Series. My children have attended ball games with me and to tell the truth, I hate the Dome (Except for Rollerbalding). Support for a stadium is similar to for a theater. Even if the theater is a nonprofit entity, they my invite in a corporation for a party, they have a payroll and pay taxes, many even pay property taxes or payments in lieu of taxes. I will provide no answers but, if the Twins are "contracted" out of the league it will not be very many years before leaders in the business, government, and fan communities are trying to get a new major league baseball team in the Twin Cities. The power of the anti-trust exemption is too strong and the will is not there in Congress to revoke it. Because of this Major League Baseball will continue to be an old boys club where collusion rule behind closed doors and the public will never know how they are being misled. Thanks to everyone who is interested in this issue. Thank you to our political leaders for listening to the voters on subsidies and still trying to find a way to keep the Twins. Thank you to our business leaders for coming to the plate with large sums of money to keep the Twins. Thank you to the Twins for playing a great game with enthusiasm. -- In cooperation, Erik Riese Decisive Moment - Decision making services. Seward, USA: a great place to live, work, learn, and play!
