One question re: Twins stadium fever: Why is the Star Tribune so
desperately, obsessive about this issue? Yesterday's editorial about not
giving Selig and Pohlad what they want (a contracted team) by ponying up for
a stadium was downright embarrassing. Steve Berg, who I have to assume wrote
the editorial, has continuously failed to convince the majority of readers
(even those of us who don't want the Twins to leave) that a ballpark is a
good investment (it clearly isn't if Selig's statement yesterday about 25
teams losing money last year--in spite of all the new stadium
construction--is true), so now he's trying to tell us that we WIN if we
build a stadium because that's what Selig and Pohlad DON'T want????

And then today, the Strib throws Jerry Bell on the front page with a
headline that says we'll save the Twins if we build a new stadium!!! Four
grafs down in the story we learn that Bell really doesn't have anything
concrete on which to base such an opinion.

What gives??? What does the Strib have to gain from a new ballpark? Why are
they so obsessed with promoting this obviously bad idea???
