Unfortunately your arguement can also be turned against stadium opponents:

How can we tell MLB and Carl Pohlad that baseball is a private enterprise 
not deserving of public funds for a stadium while on the other hand stating 
that the Twins are a community asset and must abide by its lease, local 
laws, etc.  :o)
