I don't find the lack of ward representation on the redistricting committee a huge problem. It seems to me that the members that were chosen were good decisions (this coming from a person that didn't make the cut). There is a lot of regulation surrounding this process to keep people from causing a massive problem, and there is a pretty tight approval process. It's not like ward 13 or 11 will be able to invade into the current ward 1 or something like that.
I would appreciate someone enlightening me to why the lack of women on the committee is a problem. I don't see drawing ward and precinct lines as a gender equity issue. It is all about keeping neighborhoods together and keeping the sense of community. I don't think that there was any malice in the selection of members either. I think the selection was made on the qualifications, abilities and political affiliation of the candidates presented. Besides, there are bigger fish to fry! Here comes the southsiders over the warehouse district now, arm the artists) _______________________________________ Minneapolis Issues Forum - A Civil City Civic Discussion - Mn E-Democracy Post messages to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subscribe, Unsubscribe, Digest option, and more: http://e-democracy.org/mpls
