Here's what I know: "Wedge" does refer to the shape of the neighborhood: it's real name is Lowry Hill East. (Years back, I heard of the Wedge Coop before I knew the neighborhood was named the Wedge, too. I thought it was a brilliant name for a coop and thought it referred to cut-up fruit!)
CARAG stands for Calhoun Area Residents Action Group, which is actually the neighborhood organization that represents that area. So, I think the neighborhood is called Calhoun. (There are other neighborhoods that are largely referred to by the neighborhood organization's name, such as ECHO.) And I don't know a thing about what Seward is named after, but assume that it's named after the guy who encouraged the U.S. to buy Alaska in the mid-1800s....
