In her post criticizing the Minneapolis Republicans, Megan Thomas signed her post as Chair of Stonewall DFL. In a recent letter to the editor, Tim Petlock signs as Chair of Stonewall DFL. Who is the real Stonewall Chair?
Meanwhile, Lavender has an editorial on the Dibble Shreves race in this issue: http://www.lavendermagazine.com/183/183_letters_8.html from this: Before the convention, two lesbians who are leaders in Rainbow Families--acting as individuals and not in the name of the organization--supported Shreves, because they felt she was the best candidate. <snip> The two lesbians--who have asked that their names not be printed, fearing further repercussions--received nasty e-mails and harassing phone calls at home, which shocked and frightened them, in the days before the convention. Some callers went so far as to threaten the funding of Rainbow Families if the women didn't mend their ways. <snip> Much of the problem in the GLBT ranks of the DFL stems from the Stonewall DFL. One Stonewall DFL member, who asked to remain anonymous, stated that the organization has gone completely "out of control." Several Stonewall DFL board members have left in disgust in the past few years, apparently putting the group in the hands of people who believe that their way is the only way. Tolerating no dissent from their party line, they attack community members whose views do not conform to theirs. ======================== The editorial concludes by calling on Stonewall DFL and Scott Dibble to condemn these tactics. In a recent issue of Lavender, Karen Louise Boothe writes about how ineffective and unrespected the Stonewall DFL is within the ranks of the DFL. Boothe was or is the Communications Director of the state DFL. My question to Stonewall DFLers is this -- if gay issues are a non-issue within the DFL, why the need for a Stonewall DFL at all?
