Folks often say there were no signs on the street when they get a ticket. But the policy in Minneapolis is that the ticketing agent puts a number on the ticket and it is circled. That is the amount of signs he or she could see posted on the street when writing the ticket. I think life is so hectic sometimes folks don't see the signs and sometimes people don't care. I can't tell you the number of folks who were tagged and towed not once, but several times over the course of the winter. So being tagged and towed doesn't necessarily change behavior

CN:  That's funny because a ton of cars were towed
from my block, just off Franklin Ave.  The city had
posted signs on Friday for towing on Monday, and come
Monday morning, I don't think there was one sign left.
(Except of course, in the street and in my
flowerbeds...)  So all these cars were sitting out
there, and I watched quite a few of them getting
hauled off.  What's more is that last winter, there
were quite a few occasions where cars were towed for
plowing, but the plow NEVER CAME.

Don't get me wrong, I think that towing needs to
happen in circumstances where there presence impedes
the performance of city services.  I just find it odd
that so many folks talk about cars not getting towed -
in places that aren't North Phillips.
