Scott Person says. . .

*And please don't tell residents what we loathe and don't loathe, yes the leftists at STRIDE think our market economy will just go away but it won't. As Molly Ivins would say, "you have to dance with who brung ya'", and I would rather dance with the date that has a checkbook than one with a clever website.*

Huh? So does that mean that Smith Parker and the Auto Industry brought you so you (we) have to dance with them? You *dance* for cash? What is your point?

I can't speak for STRIDERS in general, butI think the argument is not about *the market economy* but rather an economy of scale, about less auto exhaust pollution, about being able to walk, take transit, and bike comfortably.

I would also submit to Mr. Persons that this particular development project is archaic and backwards looking. Gas prices will probably recede at some point, but in my 15 year old son's lifetime (if not mine), gas powered automobiles will largely disappear. And at a time of real financial pain for the city, state, and the country, we will have spent $200 million (do I hear $300 million?)on infrastructure that could be LARGELY USELESS within a generation. Does this make sense?

Scott Persons goes on. . . .

"This is the real world and real compromises need to be made, as a resident and activist I know the deal I am making and it is a good one."

I suggest that you go beyond your own self-regard and think about future generations and some of your fellow residents without cars. The deal that you are making isn't *yours*. . . .

That's my *real* world. The *compromise* I am willing to make is less access and excess so that my city is more livable.
