The City Council was elected at the same time as
the Mayor, by the same voters. The City Council and
Mayor are supposed to be co-equal branches of
government.

The Mayor should let the City Council govern, at
least in selecting a police chief. After all, the City
Council is closer to the people.

The City Council is close to rejecting the police
chief nominee. There are six Councilmembers who have
public declared their opposition to the nomination.

If one more Councilmember declares opposition to
the police chief nominee, it will be over. Therefore
we should stop speculating about what might have been
if the nominee could had been confirmed. Hypothetical!

David Shove wrote a message about the people's duty
to obey their lords and masters. When the President
decides to take the nation to war, Congress must obey.
Isn't that what Mr. Shove meant?
