Hello all,
This whole thing is being looked at the wrong way.....let's have both...... clubs and bars that are smoke-free and clubs and bars that are not smoke-free. This would be good for both sides. The smokers are happy and the non-smokers are happy. And except for a band playing a certain venue and not another I think it would work fine. A law wouldn't need to be made and enforced and a new niche is created. This is truly what diversity is about. Society may have changed it's view of smoking but some adults will continue to want to smoke. Smokers are like cornered animals as it is these days.....lets not make it worse. Cessation of smoking will take care of itself.....in due time.
I don't have a car.....I get around mostly by bike. I think exhaust is awful....I have to breathe the stuff. It's not like a bar I can avoid.....this is where technology is at and where evolution is at. Society has decided that a certain percentage of the society is expendable....really. People without cars are expendable. I am expendable. Because I have made the decision not to protect my lungs by getting around this city in a car. So the simple rational decision is.... get a car.....and contribute to the problem.....by the way the solution is not as simple as let's ban it.......almost all of my food arrives by truck.....almost all I need arrives by a petrol powered vehicle. I am thinking this is the failure of progressive politics.....rushing evolution.....just as a tree grows in stages, so do societies and to rush them.....only bad things come about....again re-arrange the minor details while real work needs to get done. This is silly and a waste of time, or maybe not, if some reflection takes place, then maybe it will have been worth it. But then again we will be moving into an area where we will have to think for ourselves, make choices, and piss off members of our tribe, who can afford to do that, especially in politics. Why do we not extend fresh air to the animals of this city.....no..... just the humans that want to breathe polluted air.
Robert Yorga St. Anthony West
"These two paths, the light and the dark, are said to be eternal, leading some to liberation and others to rebirth. Once you have known these two paths, Arjuna, you can never be deluded again.
Attain this knowledge through perseverance in yoga. There is merit in studying the scriptures, in selfless service, austerity, and giving, but the practice of meditation carries you beyond all these to the supreme abode of the highest Lord."
Krishna to Arjuna....... in The Bhagavad Gita
