Maybe you played the wrong Final Fantasy,
but, as they say, "taste is taste". :) I
personally don't like Shining Force but I
can like some elements it has, for example.

Maybe they wanted to do it better. But, anyway,
FF6 was released previously than CT, and FF7 was
released before Chrono Cross, which was released
before FF8. They took some time but didn't put
the car ahead of the oxes. `:P~ Unfortunately FF9
will be out before CT2... <:)

Final Fantasy V used a job system, and it's very
likely it will be used in Final Fantasy IX. However,
I guess this could increase the engine's complexity.
