Oops, I wasn't clear. Those are one of TWO categories. One, or the other. Not both. My appologies. > > Once I added a last name of "??" to the 8 entries that had no last name, and > > got rid of the "almost the same name" on the phone, and then cleared all the > > duplicates, I now appear to be able to sync without duplicates. > > I still would like to fix this bug, there are probably more people out > there experiencing this. I will be done with my exams tomorrow, so i > hopefully will find some time to reproduce this bug. I just ran into another incarnation of the same bug. I had an entry that had been synced, and thus was on both sources. I wasn't sure if I'd changed a phone number for the contact in jpilot and sync'd that to the palm (which means multisync won't pick up the change), so I did an 'edit' of the number and erased a digit and re-wrote it on the palm, saved, and did a sync. Multisync saw the change, but the phone, for whatever reason got a transfer interrupted. I checked the entry and it appeared in the same condition. I did another sync and the entry then appeared twice on the phone (which uses the irmc plugin). I removed both instances of this entry on the phone and did another sync, but multisync didn't detect any changes. I again did a fake-edit of the entry on the palm and did another sync, and all worked as expected. Which leads me to a question: In the backup plugin there is a button for "re-backup everything" -- this option doesn't appear in either the palm or the irmc plugin, but it'd be nice to be able to say "I know you don't see it, but the palm has changed, check everything"... And as a random feature request, it would be even cooler if we could have a list of exceptions (don't sync this entry) -- I have a handful of entries on my palm I don't ever need on my phone even though they have a phone number. I'm not sure what the UI would be for that -- perhaps just point it to a file with a one-line-per-entry... with a format of "field: regex" or something, though that could potentially slow things down a bit... Hmm, I'd have to ponder that. -- Phil Dibowitz Systems Architect and Administrator Enterprise Infrastructure / ISD / USC UCC 174 - 213-821-5427
