The new color-coding is great, and drag-and-drop in the To Do list is
a great idea. When I first saw it, I thought it was a dream come true
-- I have *long* wanted to be able to rearrange the small list of
tasks that was due Today so that I could have a list in the order I
needed it to be in.

I have to be honest that I am completely baffled at how the current
functionality is set up for the drag-and-drop. Say, for example, that
I have the To do list sorted by "importance". If I drag an item to
the top of the list, I expect from a UI standpoint that it will now be
the most important item in the list.

However, it turns out that I have also moved it to the top of my
overall outline! Sorry, but this makes no sense whatsoever! I have an
outline that contains over 400 items, and I use Due Dates and Weekly
Goals to winnow it down to a mangeable "Today" list...if dragging
around my Today list changes my outline, it will lead, as Richard
pointed out, to utter confusion in my outline.

I think part of this confusion stems from the way that the "sort"
options are labeled on the Filter panel. The top option reads
"(none)", which implies to me that it is an unsorted list -- which it
isn't. In MLO, the correct name for the "(none)" sorting option is
actually "Outline View" My suggestion (actually, my plea!) is to
decouple the outline and the Todo list, or to at least offer that
option. I can see some users wanting the functionality exactly like
it is...and I can see others (like myself, Richard, and I'm sure
others) that would want to reorder the Todo list separately from the
Outline view. This would free me forever from having to do squirelly
things to reorder the Todo list -- like endlessly fiddling with the
Importance and Urgency sliders just to get the final order that I
want!

I've seen this functionality in other to-do programs, so it certainly
seems possible. For example, Agenda At Once, Vitalist, and
EssentialPIM all have the capability to re-order an already-sorted
list by hand. (They are also very, very inferior to MLO, so I would
like very much for MLO to have this capacity!)

Andrey, is there any chance that this would be possible to do since
you have the new architecture implemented?

thanks for all the work on the new version!

Nick
