When you drag&drop tasks on To-Do now you actually drag and drop them in the Outline. The tasks in TO-DO just used as "anchors" to regroup tasks in the outline. You can also drop to groups and change parameters of the tasks by this. This is how it works at the moment. I understand the possible confusion. I might think of disabling this functionality to not confuse the new users.... So it will be not possible to drag&drop in To-Do in this case....
>Andrey, is there any chance that this would be possible to do since >you have the new architecture implemented? Unfortunately it is very difficult to design. First of all it is not possible to calculate new task parameters after the drag operation to match new position since the sort order might depend on different criteria. If we are talking about setting custom order for the tasks in To-Do we will have other problems. It actually means that separated list should be created and the custom order of all tasks in this list should be stored in the database. It means that this list will become "fixed" automatically and it could not be updated once other tasks changed, completed etc. As you know the To-Do lists in MLO are automatically updated and reordered. It is not possible for the same list to be automatically updated one moment and custom ordered in other moment. The list should be either a) automatically ordered or b) custom ordered and with fixed tasks which are not removed and included to the list automatically. If there are programmers here they will understand the difficulties I am talking about. However as always there are ideas :-) What if we do introduce the custom lists of tasks? User would be able to select the tasks he/she want to see in one list and sort them manually. The automatic reordering of this list will not be possible, but user will be able to include/exclude tasks from the list and order them manually. Thinking about this for many months already... A.
