This is one part of my underlying requirement. The other part is the ability for a given project to build a traditional work breakdown structure and to then just drag and drop the tasks into an order that 'makes sense' in the To Do view. This traditionally has been done by setting up task dependencies which MLO now supports but which I gather are quite cumbersome to use (I am still on V1.9). A 'build a manual ordered list by drag and drop' facility would be so much quicker to use. So, having given Andrey's suggestion about a separate manual list some thought, I think this is a really good idea. What would work for me would be something along the following lines 1. Support for a single manual ordered list: the way I see this working is that one could split the current ToDo list into two halves. The lower half would be the current (V2.1) To Do View. The top half would be the manual list - one could drag items out of the automatically sorted list into the manual list which can be ordered manually using drag and drop.. I would like manual list to be 'sticky' (ie MLO would remember it) but to have the option a) to hide it (in which case the tasks jump back to their automatic position in the second list); and b) to clear it completely It should also be possible to indicate that items should be moved back into the auto list. This would be a brilliant first step but to meet the second requirement, a further facilities would 2) provide for 'named lists' where one could name and save a list and then choose which lists to have on display in the To Do View. Eg one could have the 'Must Do Today' list followed by the 'Task list for Project A' followed by the Auto Sorted List. Items could appear in more than one manual list (but probably be removed from the Auto List if they were in a manual list that was 'on display' I can see that there are lots of issues that need thinking through here but I am really excited by the manual list idea and wanted to outline my immediate thoughts.
