Thanks, Mike. Some of the parents are projects as defined by GTD (and are marked as such) but others are folders where I have grouped a set of tasks that I want to look at a particular point in the day or week (eg @EveningCatchUp).
And what I would like to be able to do is get to the parent (or which ever ancestor is determining the date for an item)) from the current view without having to change view. And, I have to say that I found the View Next Actions by Project totally confusing - couldn't work out sort orders.
