Follow-up Comment #2, bug #18293 (project mypaint):

xprop works fine on the tool windows, so it's not completely ignoring
compositing. Moving and resizing through keyboard shortcuts (e.g. L_alt+drag
window to move; Alt-F3 to bring up context menu, "resize" option to resize
window) also work as expected. Window snapping and other features still work
this way as well.

However, resizing using the app-provided handle is redrawing the toolbox and
its widgets, regardless of WM setting. Kwin and Compiz both have configurable
resize plugins ("Resize Window" in kwin, "Resize" in Compiz) that are being
ignored when resizing. I installed and tested Compiz and it's showing the
same behaviour as Kwin here, with the widgets redrawing regardless of resize
plugin setting. This behaviour (and the outline rectangle when moving) is
what I was referring to about compositing being ignored, sorry I wasn't
clear.

I agree about the Aero snap style feature being silly for a toolbox, but I
included it for completeness. I tested everything I could think of before
filing the report, even things I rarely (or never) use, such as metacity.

To be honest, none of the problems affect me very much. I use L_alt+drag
almost exclusively for moving windows, and I know how to resize in a way that
retains the snapping behaviour. Plus I don't move the toolboxes very often.
It just seemed like there was unintended behaviour going on so I filed a
report to help out. :)

There don't seem to be any more visual glitches with the theme anymore, so
nothing I can screenshot there. I only recently started using that theme so I
hadn't even considered filing a bug report on it yet, I assumed it was a
glitch in the theme.

Can't really screenshot the resizing problem, since it won't look
particularly unusual in a still. If you want, I can do a screen recording of
both the expected behaviour when resizing/moving and what actually occurs.
Just let me know what format and how you'd like it sent and I'll see what I
can do.
